UNLV Could Have First Football Fans At Allegiant Stadium

UNLV football games "might end up having the first fans at the Raiders' new Allegiant Stadium," according to Alan Snel of LVSPORTSBIZ.com. UNLV yesterday said it has "developed a plan to allow for a limited number of fans to attend its home football games this fall at Allegiant Stadium" after Nevada Gov. Steve Sisolak increased the number of people allowed in gatherings. UNLV "will be submitting a coronavirus protocol plan to Southern Nevada health and state business officials in hopes of limiting capacity to 10 percent of the stadium's 65,000-seat capacity." UNLV season-ticket holders who have purchased football tickets for the '20 season "have three options: Defer the funds towards 2021 season tickets; donate the funds to the Rebel Athletic Fund; or receive a refund." Meanwhile, the Raiders are "not having fans at the domed stadium" this year. Raiders Owner Mark Davis has said that if all season-ticket holders "could not attend the games at Allegiant Stadium, then [none] would" (LVSPORTSBIZ.com, 9/29). In Las Vegas, Mark Anderson notes local and state authorities "must sign off on UNLV's plan." If fans are allowed, tickets "will be sold game by game." Masks and other face coverings "would be required, and fans would have to social distance." A schedule is "expected to be announced as early as this week" (LAS VEGAS REVIEW-JOURNAL, 9/30).
