Yahoo Sports Launches Interactive Map For Voter Registration

Yahoo Sports today launches "Voting Playbook presented by Yahoo Sports," a voter-registration initiative utilizing an interactive map of the U.S. that features athlete- and coach-hosted instructional videos on the complete voting process in each state. The project includes 51 instructional videos (50 states and DC) with 46 unique hosts. Hosts are a mix of current and retired athletes and coaches, including WNBA Seattle Storm F Breanna Stewart, Ravens DE Calais Campbell, Dodgers P David Price and Kansas men's basketball coach Bill Self, among others. The interactive map will take viewers through the entire process from first-time registration, checking one’s registration status, voting in-person or absentee, and tracking one’s ballot after voting. Users can hover over any state, then click to reveal each video. The video module also contains links to each state’s voter information hubpage. Every video was shot remotely, with many of the hosts coming from inside their homes. In other cases, hosts allowed Yahoo Sports to record with them while on the job from inside the NBA and WNBA bubbles, during NFL Training Camp and the MLB season, and from university offices. The initiative is part of Verizon Media's Election 2020.
