Padres' On-Field Success Translating To Big Local TV Ratings

Ratings for Padres telecasts this season on FS San Diego "have surged" as the team has the second-best record in the NL, including a record 9.37 rating for Monday's win against the Dodgers, according to Tom Krasovic of the SAN DIEGO UNION-TRIBUNE. Prior to Monday's game, FS San Diego already had six Padres telecasts this year that had "cracked the network's Top 10 dated to FSSD's creation in 2012." The 7.6 rating for the Padres' victory over the Angels on Sept. 2 "set the previous FSSD record for any telecast." Entering last night's game against the Dodgers, the 5.51 average for Padres telecasts through 49 games stood nearly 50% "better than the team's 2019 season rating." Exponential growth is "showing up in a key demographic: Young adults between ages 18 and 24 are turning in at a rate of 216 percent above last year" (SAN DIEGO UNION-TRIBUNE, 9/16).
