Browns Hope Hosting 6,000 Fans Creates Opportunity For More

Browns Exec VP & COO Dave Jenkins acknowledged that there was some disappointment that the number of fans allowed at FirstEnergy Stadium -- 6,000 -- was lower than the team wanted, but "respected the decision and sees these first two games as an opportunity," according to Dan Labbe of the Cleveland PLAIN DEALER. Jenkins said, "It really is important to demonstrate that we execute as our plan says we will to then have the next discussion." Labbe notes the restart plan "includes a stadium divided into quadrants with tickets sold in pods." The stadium "will be a cashless venue -- with cash-to-card machines for fans who only have cash." Browns VP/Finance & Administration Greg Rush said of the mask requirement, "If you do not want to follow wearing your face mask, do not come." Jenkins said that "roughly a bit more than 50 percent of season ticket holders have opted out, but there are still more than enough to eat up the available tickets and then some." The first step is tomorrow for the Browns "to see how this plan actually goes." Jenkins: "And I think [Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine] wants to see how it goes" (Cleveland PLAIN DEALER, 9/16). In Cleveland, Terry Pluto notes all 6,000 tickets for Thursday’s game with the Bengals "have been sold." Tickets on the secondary markets are at "about $170 per seat" (Cleveland PLAIN DEALER, 9/16).
