Golfer JOHN DALY revealed that he has been "diagnosed with bladder cancer." Daly "underwent a procedure to remove the cancer, one that was deemed successful," but he shared that there is a "strong possibility of recurrence with his form of cancer" (GOLFCHANNEL.com, 9/10).

LEGAL NEWS: Ravens QB ROBERT GRIFFIN III does "not owe his former agent $650,000 in marketing commissions because the statute of limitations has expired." The U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri on Wednesday rejected agent BEN DOGRA's claims that he was "owed 15% of Griffin's marketing and endorsement deals" from '14 to '16 (ESPN.com, 9/10)....NFL free-agent WR JOSH BELLAMY was arrested Thursday and has been charged by the U.S. Department of Justice for "allegedly participating in a scheme" to receive more than $24M from the Paycheck Protection Program through the Coronavirus Aid, Relief & Economic Security Act. Bellamy, cut by the Jets this week, was "charged with wire fraud, bank fraud and conspiracy to commit both in a federal criminal complaint filed in the Southern District of Florida" (CHICAGO SUN-TIMES, 9/11). 

MEDIA MOVES: Saints S MALCOLM JENKINS started a production company, Listen Up Media, and Thursday, he "debuted his first major project as executive producer, a feature-length documentary called 'BLACK BOYS.'" The documentary is "airing on Peacock’s digital and broadcast networks, and features interviews with several prominent athletes and activists" (NOLA.com, 9/10). 

NBA DOING GOOD: The Magic have been working alongside Florida Rights Restoration Coalition Exec Dir DESMOND MEADE "for months as they push to increase voter awareness and participation," and the relationship "took another step Thursday as Magic coach STEVE CLIFFORD joined FRRC staff members and volunteers celebrating the inaugural 'Desmond Meade Day.'" Meade led the effort in '18 to "pass Amendment 4 -- a grassroots initiative that restored the voting rights to more than 1.4 million Floridians with past felony convictions" (ORLANDO SENTINEL, 9/11)....Former NBAer LUOL DENG and Rockets F ROBERT COVINGTON "will help spearhead a partnership with Own Our Own, an inner-city focused real estate fund, to enhance a West Pullman neighborhood on the South Side" of Chicago. The program "will involve rehabilitating a 143-unit property in the neighborhood -- first through 'enhanced safety measures, community gardens, art projects, and an outdoor playground,' and then by adapting community spaces to provide community resources, from libraries, to STEM facilities and more" (NBCSPORTSCHICAGO.com, 9/10).

On this week’s pod, SBJ’s Austin Karp has two Big Get interviews. The first is with TNT’s Stan Van Gundy as he breaks down the NBA Playoffs from the booth. Later in the show, we hear from ESPN’s VP of Programming and Acquisitions Tim Reed as the NFL Draft gets set to kick off on Thursday night in Motown.
