FanDuel, DraftKings Seeing Steady Growth Among Sports Leagues

The gambling scene is evolving in the U.S., with DraftKings and FanDuel continuing to show growth in the sports industry. DraftKings leads the DFS marketplace overall with 66 total sports partnerships to FanDuel’s 21, more than tripling its competitor. While both companies own nonexclusive rights to the NBA, DraftKings has seized more landscape within the five major domestic sports leagues (NBA, NFL, NHL, MLB, MLS) by securing exclusive partnerships with the MLB and NFL, along with the PGA Tour. FanDuel, while behind DraftKings in overall properties, owns DFS rights to the NHL, giving the company possession of one "Big Five” league. Through a '20 modification of its NHL deal, FanDuel gained rights to stream two out-of-market games a night, expanding the company’s potential offerings to its partners. FanDuel again moved the needle in June '20 via a groundbreaking deal with the Broncos that saw the franchise become the first NFL team to sign an official sports betting partner. DraftKings may represent the current industry standard, but FanDuel is advancing through nontraditional endeavors.
