Texas Tech Planning For 25% Capacity At Football Games

The reduced seating plan at Jones AT&T Stadium will cap attendance at around 16,500GETTY IMAGES

Texas Tech has announced a seating plan for "about 25% of maximum capacity at Jones AT&T Stadium this season with locations in the main seating bowl being sold via three-game mini-plans and on a single-game basis," according to Don Williams of the LUBBOCK AVALANCHE-JOURNAL. No seats in the main stadium bowl "will be available by season ticket." Jones AT&T Stadium's listed capacity is 60,454, and Senior Associate AD Robert Giovannetti said that the reduced seating plan will "cap crowd size at about 16,500." Texas Tech will begin re-designing the club seating sections next week, and fans in those areas who are "squeezed out of their usual spots will be re-seated in the stadium bowl." The school will "require face coverings for all fans and staff, use mobile ticketing exclusively to reduce contact points at stadium gates and provide a mobile-ordering option" for concessions (LUBBOCK AVALANCHE-JOURNAL, 8/14).

EBB TIDE: Alabama AD Greg Byrne on Thursday said that they are "still waiting for the SEC to reveal the order of the 10-game schedules set to open Sept. 26" to determine seating at Bryant-Denny Stadium. He "hopes to get those dates and assignments within the next week." Byrne said UA will "unveil our ticketing plan" at that point, "But I can tell you the capacity will be significantly reduced" (BIRMINGHAM NEWS, 8/14).
