LAFC, Adidas To Release Co-Branded Sneakers In Popular Style

LAFC is the first soccer team to have a co-branded Samba shoe from AdidasADIDAS

LAFC and Adidas Originals "teamed up to create a cobranded Samba silhouette," marking the first MLS team to "have its own version of the popular sneaker style," according to Adam Tschorn of the L.A. TIMES. Two versions were announced, with one "scheduled to drop at retail stores and online on Aug. 22," while the other "won’t be hitting retail at all." Both "make heavy use" of LAFC’s black and gold colors. The Street by Street Samba, which will cost $90 at retail, "features a black upper with Adidas’ signature three-stripe detail rendered in metallic gold and the City of Angels’ name appearing in gold parallel to the top stripe." The Heart of Gold Samba, the version not hitting retail, is "essentially the same sneaker with the same club details but with a gold metallic finish over it." Although European clubs Real Madrid, Manchester United and Bayern Munich have sneaker partnerships with Adidas, LAFC being the first soccer team to have a co-branded Samba is "particularly noteworthy" (L.A. TIMES, 8/7).
