NBA Players Still Making Social Justice Plans For Opening Night

NBA players are "committed to wresting control of the narrative" around the social justice movement, as players "plan to kneel during the national anthem Thursday, the league's opening night doubleheader that concludes with the Clippers playing the Lakers," according to Dan Woike of the L.A. TIMES. When that happens, the players, many of whom will have special messaging on the back of their uniforms, "will continue to bring up social injustice, largely using the name of Breonna Taylor" (L.A. TIMES, 7/25). While some teams have their plans nailed down, Jazz G Jordan Clarkson said, "I'm not for sure going to kneel, but we are doing something during the national anthem that will send a message. We haven't said if we are kneeling or not, but we did talk about it. It was a conversation. We are doing something" (SALT LAKE TRIBUNE, 7/25).
