A group of Univ. of Michigan football players are "using their platform as student-athletes to do some good in inner-city towns in the Midwest." A half-dozen players, led by LB ADAM SHIBLEY, have formed The Uniform Funding Foundation to "outfit youth football teams in Detroit and Cleveland" (MLIVE.com, 7/7)....Ravens QB LAMAR JACKSON has "canceled his annual 'Funday with LJ' event this weekend" in Broward County (Fla.). With strict social-distancing guidelines in place amid the coronavirus pandemic, the city of Pompano Beach had "set limits on the event’s attendance." Because of the number of people "already registered for the event, Jackson decided to cancel the event rather than turn away any" (BALTIMORE SUN, 7/8)....Former MLS player JAKE GLEESON filed a $10.2M lawsuit against two Timbers physicians, "alleging that their handling of his injuries in 2018 ended his professional soccer career" (Portland OREGONIAN, 7/8).
