L.A.-Based Real Estate Developer Latest To Express Interest In Mets

L.A.-based real estate developer Kurt Rappaport is leading the latest group "that hopes to purchase" the Mets, according to Thornton McEnery of the N.Y. POST. Sources said that Rappaport has "heavy-hitter connections and could table a sizable bid." This brings the number of confirmed active bidders to four: Rappaport; Josh Harris and David Blitzer; Alex Rodriguez and Jennifer Lopez; and Simon and David Reuben. One person who is "not actively bidding on the team right now is Steve Cohen." Sources said that Cohen, who saw his own $2.6B purchase "fall apart at the last minute back in February, does not plan to submit a bid in the coming days and that Allen & Co. has assured some of the current bidders that Cohen is not involved in the process" (N.Y. POST, 7/3).
