Cal and Under Armour in '16 announced a 10-year apparel deal, and the school this year "disclosed the terms of the deal," which is valued at $85.6M and is "notable for its campus-wide commitments," according to Matthew Kish of the PORTLAND BUSINESS JOURNAL. The 10-year deal started July 1, 2017 and expires June 30, 2027. Beyond the athletic department, the deal "includes $20,000 a year for an employee who works on innovation on the school's campus, at least three innovation showcases (valued at $250,000 each), and at least three opportunities for students to showcase inventions (valued at $200,000 each)." Recreational and club sports "will get $260,000 in products each year." The school's alumni association "will get $40,000 a year in Under Armour products." UA also will "provide $200,000 in merchandise annually for a faculty and staff appreciation day." Nike, Adidas and UA "steer a combined" $300M "annually to university athletic departments." The terms of Cal's UA deal "likely place it in the top 10 in terms of annual value" (BIZJOURNALS.com, 6/17).
