Justin Rose Splits With Club Maker Honma After Less Than 18 Months

Golfer Justin Rose "will not continue as a Honma brand ambassador" after signing a multiyear deal with the high-end Japanese club manufacturer at the start of '19, according to Andrew Tursky of GOLF.com. Rose played in the Arnold Palmer Invitational, the last full tournament prior to PGA Tour shutting down, "without a single Honma club in his bag." Neither party "publicly addressed the matter, though, leaving many to speculate on the status and future of the relationship." Rose has fallen to No. 14 in the world after being ranked No. 2 when he signed with Honma (GOLF.com, 5/22). GOLF DIGEST's Joel Beall wrote the Rose-Honma split was the "worst kept equipment secret in golf." Before signing with Honma, Rose "spent 20 years with TaylorMade" (GOLFDIGEST.com, 5/22).
