Longtime Ravens PR Guru Kevin Byrne Set To Retire Next Month

Ravens Exec VP/Public & Community Relations KEVIN BYRNE “is retiring” next month, though he will “remain a consultant to the team" through the '20 season, according to Jonas Shaffer of the BALTIMORE SUN. Byrne is an “original Ravens employee who moved with then-owner ART MODELL from Cleveland in 1996.” Current Ravens Owner STEVE BISCIOTTI in a press release called him “one of the most highly regarded communications professionals in the history of pro sports” (BALTIMORE SUN, 4/4). NBCSPORTS.com’s Peter King writes, “In 36 years of dealing with Byrne through some trying times (a few of them Art Modell-related), not only did he never steer me wrong, he never tried to talk me out of writing something that he knew would be disadvantageous to his employer. I never got anything but the truth out of him, no matter what that truth would mean inside his front office” (NBCSPORTS.com, 4/6).
