Flyers Seen As Leaders With Several Top Female Hockey Execs

Few women in the NHL "hold hockey operations jobs," but the Flyers' "commitment to inclusion stands out," according to Erin McCarthy of the PHILADELPHIA INQUIRER. This story was reported “before the coronavirus outbreak and the suspension of the NHL season," and while these women’s jobs "may look different now, they are still working." When hockey returns, these women "will still be leaders who play a role in the experiences of thousands of Flyers fans at the Wells Fargo Center.” Among those featured were President of Business Operations Valerie Camillo, Dir of Hospitality Mandy Bauer, CFO Blair Listino, VP/Business Administration Cynthia Punsalan, Senior Manager of Digital Media Christine Mina, Senior VP/Business Operations Cindy Stutman and VP/Legal & Deputy General Counsel Betsy McGill (PHILADELPHIA INQUIRER, 3/23).

PIRATES SET THE STANDARD: In Pittsburgh, Jason Mackey wrote several female Pirates execs are writing an "impressive and important story, one that’s about their own talents and also the example they’re setting for others." Pirates Education Coordinator Mayu Fielding helps foreign players "transition to life in America," while Kinza Baad is in her fourth year as a scouting assistant. Astrid DeGruchy "does a little bit of everything, describing herself as the 'air traffic controller' of the Pirates’ international scouting department" (PITTSBURGH POST-GAZETTE, 3/22).
