MLS Franchise Notes: Orlando City SC Expects Sellout For Saturday

PRO SOCCER USA's Julia Poe noted Orlando City SC is set to open the season Saturday in front of a "sold-out crowd" at Exploria Stadium, with the club "confirming less than 1,000 tickets for the match against Real Salt Lake are available as of Thursday evening." Orlando City have "sold out of all three of their previous home openers at Exploria Stadium, which currently has a capacity of 25,500 fans." All tickets to the Wall -- the area designated for the standing supporters section on the north end of the stadium -- were "sold out more than a week ahead of the match" (PROSOCCERUSA.com, 2/27).

L.A. STORY: In L.A., Kevin Baxter noted in its first two MLS seasons, LAFC "capped season-ticket sales at 17,500 -- and sold them all" for Banc of California Stadium. Heading into its third year, the club has made an "additional 800 season packages available," and on Tuesday, less than a week before its season opener against Inter Miami, LAFC announced "all of those tickets are gone too." The club "sold out all 37 MLS home games -- regular season and postseason -- it has played at the 22,000-seat-plus Banc of California Stadium since joining MLS" in '18 (L.A.TIMES, 2/26).

HEALTHY CHOICE: In Nashville, Drake Hills noted Vanderbilt Univ. Medical Center employees "received 2,500 tickets" for Nashville SC's inaugural MLS match against Atlanta United on Saturday. The ticket giveaway came as Nashville SC announced a multiyear partnership with Vanderbilt Health as its "official team health care provider." Nashville SC CEO Ian Ayre said that the club has "sold over 40,000 tickets" for Saturday's match (NASHVILLE TENNESSEAN, 2/25).

BEER HERE: In Portland, Joel Odom noted the Timbers and NWSL Thorns on Monday announced that they are "freezing concession food prices at games" for this season at Providence Park. However, beer prices "have gone up to $11.50 from $10.50 last year." The Timbers said that the beer prices "remain the cheapest at a major-league venue in the Northwest" (Portland OREGONIAN, 2/24).
