XFL BattleHawks Draw Strong Local TV Numbers, Topping Blues

The rating for Week 2's BattleHawks-Roughnecks was down from Week 1, but still outdrew Blues-Predatorsbattlehawks

The XFL St. Louis BattleHawks in their second game "again out-battled the reigning Stanley Cup champion Blues" in TV ratings, according to Dan Caesar of the ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH. In Week 1, the BattleHawks' season opener against the Dallas Renegades drew a 7.4 local rating on a Sunday afternoon, compared to a 4.8 for the Stars-Blues the night before. The rating for BattleHawks-Houston Roughnecks in Week 2 on Sunday fell "over the opener, but the game began at the same time" as Blues-Predators that day -- 5:00pm CT. BattleHawks-Roughnecks drew a 5.3 rating on FS1, while Blues-Predators drew a 3.6 on NBCSN. One potential reason for the Week 2 drop would be that FS1 "generally doesn't rate as well as ESPN, which carried their opener." St. Louis-based KTVI-Fox, which will carry N.Y. Guardians-Battlehawks on Saturday, has "added a locally produced pregame show" to lead into Fox' national telecast, and will "do so before the team's two other games it is scheduled to carry" (ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH, 2/21).
