U.S. Soccer increased Ellis' salary by 30% in '18, one year ahead of the Women's World CupGETTY IMAGES

Former USWNT manager JILL ELLIS had a base salary of $389,409 in '18, 30% higher than it was in '17. USMNT coach GREGG BERHALTER received $304,113, along with a $200,000 signing bonus "upon accepting the offer" in '18, plus $104,113 in "salary and moving expenses after starting the job in December." Berhalter "was to make" $1-1.2M in '19. A USSF spokesperson said that the organization "did not want to comment on the salary differences" (WALL STREET JOURNAL, 2/20).

THE GOOD STUFF: Patriots Owner ROBERT KRAFT "surprised a group of retired marines" yesterday when he "gave $100,000 to the Semper Fi & America's Fund for wounded warriors in the middle of a ceremony at the Massachusetts State House" (BOSTON HERALD, 2/20).

NAMES: Gold Medal-winning U.S. diver GREG LOUGANIS is teaming up with his manager, GREG SIMS of Arya Worldwide Entertainment, to "develop a feature about his life story" with screenwriter MATTHEW WILDER (DEADLINE.com, 2/19)....The Rotary Club of Ponte Vedra Beach will present golfer JIM FURYK's wife, TABITHA, with the '20 "Rock of the Community Award" on May 9 because of her involvement with the Furyk Foundation (FLORIDA TIMES-UNION, 2/20)....DWYANE WADE and rapper RICK ROSS have "hopped on a track" entitled "Season Ticket Holder," set for release tomorrow. The song also features Heat F UDONIS HASLEM (MIAMI HERALD, 2/20).
