Two Drivers To Race Trump '20 Cars At Daytona This Weekend

TIM VIENS

Driver Tim Viens will be "behind the wheel of a white, No. 3 Chevy Silverado with a Trump 2020 logo" on Friday night for the NASCAR Truck Series race at Daytona Int'l Speedway, and driver Joe Nemechek "will run the 74 car with the same pro-Trump message" on Saturday in the Xfinity Series race, according to Mark Harper of the Daytona Beach NEWS-JOURNAL. Viens said that the idea to seek a Trump-backing sponsor was "hatched a few months ago." Harper notes Patriots PAC of America "paid Mike Harmon Racing $25,000 on Feb. 5." Viens suggested that the sponsorship "will involve more than $25,000." Viens was "able to land the backing, which was enough for both the NextEra Energy and Xfinity races, but he didn't have a ride in the Saturday race, so he turned to Harmon, an owner who's worked with Viens in the past." Harper notes before the '16 election, at least three NASCAR series drivers "drove Trump vehicles," including Korbin Forrester at Eldora Speedway in Ohio, Reed Sorenson at Texas Motor Speedway and Austin Self at Talladega Superspeedway (Daytona Beach NEWS-JOURNAL, 2/14).
