Sources: Allegiant Stadium May Host Barcelona-Real Madrid Match
Relevent Sports is looking to "arrange a Barcelona-Real Madrid match" this summer at the new Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, according to sources cited by Steven Goff of the WASHINGTON POST. If a deal is struck, this iteration of El Clasico would serve as the "first sporting event" at the Raiders' $1.9B venue. One source cautioned that other facilities are "under consideration, including SoFi Stadium" in L.A. The match would be part of the '20 edition of Relevent's Int'l Champions Cup. The only scheduled non-Raiders events at Allegiant Stadium so far are UNLV football games (starting in late August), the Pac-12 football championship game and Las Vegas Bowl. The two LaLiga clubs have been "regular visitors" to the U.S. In '17, they played one another before a "sellout crowd in Miami" at Hard Rock Stadium (WASHINGTON POST, 2/12).
