Franchise Notes

In Tampa, Marc Topkin reports the Rays will have 22 giveaway items this season, "some with their own soundtrack," as bobbleheads for P Charlie Morton, SS Willy Adames, P Tyler Glasnow, 1B Ji-Man Choi, P Blake Snell and RF Austin Meadows will "come with audio of TV/radio highlights, and form a set." Meanwhile, on seven Sundays, all kids 14 and under will receive a special giveaway, and on five additional Sundays, giveaways will be "only for members of the Rays Rookies Kids Club." Club membership is "free for kids 14 years and under, and includes $2 tickets for select home games, $2 snacks for all home games and access to exclusive Rays events" (TAMPA BAY TIMES, 2/6).

PETTY PARTY? In L.A., Bill Shaikin notes Dodgers fan group Pantone 294 "purchased 800 tickets to the Angels' home opener on Friday, April 3, against the Astros" to protest the team's sign-stealing scandal. Demand is "so high" that Pantone 294 now has "secured 2,727 tickets to the game." Dodgers fans "account for the bulk of the tickets," but Yankees fans have "gotten in on the fun too" (L.A. TIMES, 2/6).

PACKAGE DEAL: In Detroit, Kirkland Crawford noted the Red Wings are "hosting a 'Tigers Night' on March 26" for their game against the Flyers at Little Caesars Arena, which is the first day of the MLB season. Crawford wrote considering that is the third-to-last home game of this "miserable season for the Wings, any kind of special attraction would help attendance at that point." Available currently on the Red Wings' website with this deal is a "ticket to the Flyers game, a Tigers-Wings reversible knit hat, and a ticket to the Tigers' Opening Day at Comerica Park, March 30 against the Royals" (DETROIT FREE PRESS, 2/5).
