Back To The Future: Blue Jays Unveil New Powder Blue Uniforms
The Blue Jays during their Winter Fest event unveiled a new powder blue alternate uniform, returning to a color the team previously wore on the road from '77-88 and as an "alternate look" from '08-10, according to Laura Armstrong of the TORONTO STAR. The revamped uniforms "share the same design as the Blue Jays home white and alternate royal blue looks, with the word 'Blue Jays' printed across players' chest in split lettering and the team's logo beneath the wording." The new uniforms "boast a powder blue base" completed by navy blue socks and matte navy blue batting helmets. Players can "choose to wear" navy or royal blue cleats, while the "coordinated ball caps" are navy blue. The new alternates were "greeted and with cheers and applause" inside Rogers Centre on Saturday morning, while the reaction on social media was "mixed" (TORONTO STAR, 1/19). The baby blue look is a "nostalgic look for those who remember the teams of the past that donned similar threads (MLB.com, 1/18).
