MLB's Astros Investigation Should Be Done By End Of Month

The MLB's investigation into the Astros' sign-stealing is "expected to be completed by the end of January," according to USA Today's Bob Nightengale. The discipline could be the "harshest in baseball history." Nightengale said, "We're talking about a record number of fines exceeding $5 million. We're talking about the loss of draft picks over several years. We're also talking about suspensions for GM Jeff Luhnow and also manager A.J. Hinch." Several GMs said that if the allegations are true, Luhnow "should be suspended for life." However, Nightengale cited sources as saying that is "very, very unlikely." Once the Astros investigation is over, MLB will "start their next investigation" against the Red Sox. It is "possible" that Red Sox manager Alex Cora "gets suspended." Cora was the Astros bench coach in '17 "when this was happening," and was manager of the Red Sox during their alleged infractions as well (USA TODAY, 1/9).
