Nike To Feature Yellow Body Suits, Pastel Patterns At Aussie Open
A new Nike outfit has "gotten people talking" in the lead-up to this year's Australian Open, as the "yellow body suit with a watercolor pastel-patterned dress (or skirt) on top" will be worn by Nike-sponsored players like Bianca Andreescu and Madison Keys, according to TENNIS.com. The patterns were created by Australian artist Cassie Byrnes, and have been "met with mixed reviews." Meanwhile, the Nike men's ambassadors, including Australia's Nick Kyrgios, will be in "soft pinks with similar watercolor pastel-patterned shorts" (TENNIS.com, 1/5). NARCITY.com's Tom Nightingale wrote Nike's designs are "sure to stand out." Nike said that the garb is "designed to combat the high temperatures players generally face playing in Australia in the height of the country's summer." Nike's full Melbourne Collection "will be released" next Monday, with the tourney set to begin on Jan. 20 (NARCITY.com, 1/3).
