WPEN Knocks Off WIP In Afternoon Philly Sports Radio Ratings

WPEN-FM "retook the No. 1 spot in the afternoons on Philly sports talk radio" after finishing behind WIP-FM for three consecutive quarters, according to Rob Tornoe of the PHILADELPHIA INQUIRER. WPEN's Mike Missanelli, Tyrone Johnson and Natalie Egenolf finished ahead of WIP's Jon Marks and Ike Reese "among male listeners" in the 25-54 male demo, the "most-important demographic for both stations." Both shows "managed to grow their ratings significantly compared to last year’s fall book," with Marks and Reese up 20% and Missanelli up nearly 32%. Outside of afternoons, WIP "continues to dominate." The station’s morning show team of Angelo Cataldi, Rhea Hughes and Al Morganti "remains a ratings force," defeating WPEN's Marc Farzetta and Tra Thomas. During middays, WIP hosts Joe DeCamara and Jon Ritchie "finished in first place for the first time during their three-year run." They "easily defeated" WPEN's Anthony Gargano (PHILADELPHIA INQUIRER, 1/3).
