Demand For Winter Classic Tickets Revived After Big Drop Last Year
Demand for Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic tickets on the secondary market has bounced back to more typical levels after a significant drop for last year's event at Notre Dame Stadium, according to data from SeatGeek. The average price of $254 for the New Year's Day Predators-Stars matchup at the Cotton Bowl is up 70% year-over-year from the '19 Bruins-Blackhawks game. SeatGeek Communications Manager Chris Leyden noted that figure is especially impressive given the 90,000-plus capacity of the Cotton Bowl. The highest average Winter Classic price SeatGeek has tracked was $448 for the Blackhawks-Blues contest at Busch Stadium in '17. Prices have held fairly consistent this year, spiking about two weeks out before dropping in the past few days. There are still plenty of tickets available, with the get-in price just below $150. Of consumers looking for tickets on SeatGeek, the vast majority are coming from Texas (73%), followed by Tennessee (7%) in a distant second. The Winter Classic is the eighth most in-demand event at the Cotton Bowl that SeatGeek has tracked; nine of the 10 most in-demand events at the venue have been Oklahoma-Texas football games.
