NHL Avg. Attendance Holding Steady In ’19-20 As Blackhawks Lead

The NHL has seen a 0.2% increase in average home attendance this season through Sunday, as games are averaging 17,123 fans, up from 17,086 over the same period last season. The Blackhawks continue to lead all teams with a 21,356 average at United Center, up 0.4% from 21,264 last season, despite missing the playoffs in ’18-19 for the second consecutive year. The Blues, following their first Stanley Cup in franchise history, are averaging 18,096 fans at Enterprise Center, a 7.3% increase. While their averages are still in the bottom 10 of the league, the Islanders (+11.6%) and Hurricanes (+22.4%) are the only two teams experiencing double-digit increases thus far, with the latter seeing the largest percent increase in the league, following their run to the Eastern Conference Final last season. The Islanders have the league's second smallest average attendance (12,202), with games split between Barclays Center (5) and the NYCB Live Nassau Coliseum (11). Barclays Center's capacity is 15,795, while the Coliseum’s capacity for hockey is 13,900. The Senators are averaging 11,592 fans per home game, the smallest figure in the league.
