Dan Le Batard Says Father "In Good Health" Amid Absence On "HQ"
ESPN's Dan Le Batard said his father, Gonzalo "Papi" Le Batard, is "in good health" despite missing "Highly Questionable" for the last two weeks, according to Greg Cote of the MIAMI HERALD. Dan Le Batard said his father has "just been punching a clock for 50 years and doesn't want to necessarily be working every day." Le Batard's comments during his radio show Thursday came after he "first addressed Papi's absence" to begin "HQ" on Wednesday. At which point, Le Batard said, "He is healthy, he is happy, he is just 76 years old." While his father has been away, Le Batard has "rotated in several guest co-hosts" on "HQ" including ESPN's Sarah Spain, Israel Gutierrez and Mina Kimes. Le Batard left the impression his father "had retired at least for now as a full-time presence on the show" and that any future appearances "would be sporadic or occasional" (MIAMI HERALD, 11/22).
