Way Of Wade Brand Signs Warriors' D'Angelo Russell As Ambassador
Dwyane Wade's Way of Wade shoe brand "has added" Warriors G D'Angelo Russell to its "ambassador roster," according to Peter Verry of FOOTWEAR NEWS. Both Wade and Russell posted to Instagram to confirm the deal, but "no terms were disclosed." During the offseason, Russell was "spotted in brands other than Nike" (FOOTWEARNEWS.com, 11/21). In Miami, C. Isaiah Smalls II notes rumors of Russell joining Way of Wade have "swirled for more than a month." Russell's Nike shoe deal was "set to expire this Fall." Wade partnered with Chinese apparel company Li-Ning in '12 to create the line after "previous stints with Converse and Jordan Brand." As an addition to fellow Way of Wade ambassadors like Heat F Udonis Haslem and Warriors F Glen Robinson, Russell's presence brings a "much-needed jolt of youth and stardom" (MIAMI HERALD, 11/22).
NEW PARTNERSHIP: In San Antonio, Madalyn Mendoza notes Spurs G Dejounte Murray's New Balance partnership is "official with a new commercial and the first look at his OMN1 shoe colorway." Murray is "featured in a new ad promoting the New Balance OMN1s colorway 'Light's Out.'" As the most recent addition to New Balance's ambassadors, Murray joins Clippers F Kawhi Leonard and Thunder F Darius Bazley. Murray's edition is set to launch globally on Dec. 4 (SAN ANTONIO EXPRESS-NEWS, 11/21).
