Tickets Still Available For Sunday's CFL Grey Cup In Calgary
Less than 32,000 of the 36,000 available seats for Sunday's CFL Grey Cup at Calgary's McMahon Stadium were sold as of noon MT yesterday, and tickets were "still available for just about every ticketed event," according to Terry Jones of the EDMONTON SUN. The Grey Cup matchup between the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and Winnipeg Blue Bombers "represented a double-whammy to the local organizing committee." However, in just about "every case of every ticketed event -- including the game -- organizers believe they're going to get there." Chief Grey Cup & Events Officer Duane Vienneau said, "We've already seen a spike from Winnipeg and Hamilton fan bases. Neither team has won a Grey Cup in a long time." Local Organizing Committee Chair Mike Franco said, "We're in a good position. If we keep selling them at this pace, we're going to be pretty close." Jones notes the one feature that will "set this Grey Cup hosting apart from all the others is that they're holding the whole show at Stampede Park." Vienneau: "It'll probably be a (more) compact footprint than we had last year in Edmonton. You might come to go to the one thing that drives you there, but then you see everything else and you go to more things" (EDMONTON SUN, 11/20).
