MiLB's Copa De La Diversion Growing To 92 Clubs In '20

The Asheville Tourists are one of 20 new clubs that will participate in the initiative next yearMiLB

MiLB has announced the identities of the 92 clubs that will participate in next season's Copa de la Diversión (Fun Cup). The initiative began in '17, when four teams collaborated with their local Hispanic communities, for a total of 10 games, to create culturally relevant personas that represented their region's Hispanic/Latinx heritage. The initiative grew to 33 clubs in '18 and 72 last season. The campaign has been a success by every metric. Although final numbers from last season are not yet available, every participating MiLB team in '18 saw at least a 6% jump in merchandise sales, and Copa-themed games had a nearly 20% higher average attendance compared to non-Copa games. Overall, 1.8 million fans have attended the nearly 400 Copa games since the initiative began. Teams will release their official on-field looks in March, when on-field merchandise will be available for purchase on MiLB team store sites. To view all the club names, click here.
