NBC's Pete Bevacqua Gives Thoughts On Current Media Landscape

Prior to today's start of the '19 Endeavor Streaming Sports Media & Technology conference in Marina Del Rey, Calif., NBC Sports Group President Pete Bevacqua joined SBJ’s Abe Madkour and John Ourand to discuss some of the hot issues in the media world. A few quick hits from Bevacqua:

* Goals for his first year on the job: “You need a concise, strategic plan that people can buy into. I’ve spent a lot of time in my first year building that plan. And there’s a lot of people that I’ve learned from. It’s been an absolute blast so far.”

* On the strategy for launching NBC’s OTT Peacock platform: “A large part of my time, particularly in the last six months, has been working with the Peacock team ... and trying to figure out what’s the best role for sports in this Peacock environment.”

* On playing golf this week with legendary play-by-play announcer Al Michaels: “It’s one thing to play Bel-Air. But to play Bel-Air with Al Michaels? ... He’s a national treasure. The mayor of Bel-Air. It was a great way to kick off a couple of days in L.A.”
