MWC Investigating Issues With Facebook Watch Football Stream

The Facebook Watch broadcast of Saturday's San Diego State-San Jose State football game froze with about six minutes remaining, and Mountain West Deputy Commissioner Bret Gilliland said the conference is "still trying to find out what the smoking gun is," according to Kirk Kenney of the SAN DIEGO UNION-TRIBUNE. Gilliland added, "We still haven't gotten that one piece of information that says this is why this happened." Gilliland said the "short version is that the feed going into Facebook ... got interrupted," resulting in the stream freezing with SDSU leading by 17. Gilliland said there are "still some imperfections" with streaming games via Facebook, though this "doesn't happen nearly as often anymore." He added, "We're getting closer and closer." Kenney noted the MWC is in the "midst of negotiating a new multi-year broadcast deal that is expected to include linear and digital" (SAN DIEGO UNION-TRIBUNE, 10/23).
