Franchise Notes

In S.F., Ann Killion writes Raiders OT Trent Brown yesterday was alleged to have been the "aggressor in multiple incidents of domestic abuse," and this particular case "directly challenges" Raiders Owner Mark Davis. Over his tenure, Davis has "made clear his disdain for domestic abuse, even the hint of it." The allegations come after the Raiders this offseason made Brown the "top-paid offensive lineman in the league." For many years, Davis' "no-tolerance stance on domestic violence has been a lone bright spot in a league that has almost always wanted to look the other way." Killion: "How will he respond now?" (S.F. CHRONICLE, 10/17).

IN THE EARLY STAGES: In Las Vegas, Alan Snel noted NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman yesterday spoke with Golden Knights Owner Bill Foley about "staging an outdoor winter VGK game at West Point's Michie Stadium." But "winterizing the West Point Black Cadets' football stadium ... is an issue." Foley, a West Point graduate, "would like to have a Golden Knights game played" at his alma mater (LVSPORTSBIZ.com, 10/16).

CHANGING IT UP: In Ft. Lauderdale, Ira Winderman noted the Heat are "going powder blue this season" for their City Edition "Vice" uniforms, following up on the "previous white and then black versions." Under the NBA's uniform contract, each version of City Edition uniforms is "only available for a single season." The Heat again will "roll out a marketing campaign in advance of the uniform debut" (South Florida SUN SENTINEL, 10/16).
