Islanders' Jon Ledecky Dishes On Team's New Belmont Park Arena

Islanders co-Owner Jon Ledecky said the team's new arena at Belmont Park will be a "building facade that maintains the (Belmont-style) tradition but inside has everything state of the art," according to Laura Albanese of NEWSDAY. Ledecky, who on Saturday was joined at the arena site by several Islanders alumni just 2 1/2 weeks after groundbreaking, said that he "expects the rest of the campus will use advanced technology." He added, "Because we’re opening in 2021, we’re spending a lot of time, resources and energy to make sure that we’re right." Ledecky said that season-ticket sales have "risen as construction got underway" on the new arena. Meanwhile, Albanese noted the arena will "look to hire a diverse set of vendors." Ledecky said that "at least 30% will be minorities or women," and that "6% will be disabled military veterans" (NEWSDAY, 10/13).
