The Red Sox "made their first front office changes" since firing President of Baseball Operations DAVE DOMBROWSKI, as the team fired Senior VP/Player Personnel FRANK WREN and informed Special Assistant to the GM EDDIE BANE that his "contract won't be renewed." Wren, who had been brought on in '15 as one of the first hires by Dombrowski, was "informed that the team is restructuring its scouting operations." Bane joined the Red Sox in '12. Meanwhile, Special Assistant and VP/Baseball Operations TONY LA RUSSA will "remain with the team for at least one additional year" (BOSTON GLOBE, 9/20).

EXECS: Activision Blizzard Esports named Reebok Senior Dir of Global Newsroom DAN MAZEI to the newly created position of Head of Global Communications. Mazei will lead PR, editorial and influencer/celebrity marketing (Adam Stern, THE DAILY)....FC Cincinnati VP/Operations DAN MCNALLY, the club's "first-ever employee," is "transitioning to the technical side of the organization" to serve as Dir of Soccer Operations. He will report to GM GERARD NIJKAMP (CINCINNATI ENQUIRER, 9/20)....IMSA President & COO SCOTT ATHERTON will retire at the end of the season, though he will remain on the IMSA board. Atherton has held the role since late '13 (Adam Stern, THE DAILY).
