Rangers Bringing Concessionaire Delaware North To New Ballpark

The MLB Rangers struck a "long-term food, beverage and retail contract" for the upcoming Globe Life Field with Delaware North Sportservice, the team's concessions partner since Globe Life Park opened in '94, according to Sam Blum of the DALLAS MORNING NEWS. Delaware North GM Casey Rapp said the upper deck food options at the current ballpark are "pretty generic." But he added that the food options at the new ballpark will be "more diverse." Many of the names of food items and restaurants will be "plays on baseball terminology." Rapp "spoke about a restaurant called 'Throwing Smoke' which will serve barbecue." There also will be a "hot dog place called 'Abner Doubledogs,' a pizza restaurant called 'High Cheese' and venue called 'Barrel Up' which serves alcohol." Rangers co-Chair & Managing Partner Ray Davis said, "You've gotta be very happy with your partner, and we've got enough years of experience with Delaware North and the Jacobs family that we're very comfortable in extending this program long-term." The Rangers also revealed that construction on the new ballpark is 78% complete (DALLAS MORNING NEWS, 9/20).
