Florida State AD David Coburn said that he is "no more optimistic" that Comcast will carry the ACC Network "any time soon," according to Ira Schoffel of RIVALS.com. But Coburn added that there have been a "number of other positive developments" with the net. Schoffel noted the new network is "currently in the homes of more than 40 million subscribers, which is more than the conference and ESPN originally projected for this point." There also are "indications that DirecTV and AT&T U-Verse will soon be reaching new agreements to carry the channel." However, when it comes to Comcast, Coburn said that the outlook "appears bleak for the foreseeable future." Coburn said that the negotiations are "essentially at a 'brick wall' because Comcast's current contract with ESPN and parent company Disney doesn't expire for another two years." Coburn: "The only real leverage is people dropping" (RIVALS.com, 9/18).
