MICHAEL JORDAN has pledged a $1M contribution to "relief efforts in the Bahamas, in response to the destruction caused by Hurricane Dorian." The donation "comes a year after he made a similar contribution in response to Hurricane Florence." Jordan said that he "owns property in the Bahamas and has long enjoyed visiting the country" (CHARLOTTE OBSERVER, 9/10)....The Marlins yesterday held a donation drive to help Dorian victims in the Bahamas and prospect JAZZ CHISHOLM, who is from the country, said that he "plans to go visit Freeport and Abaco to help with relief efforts in person after he finishes with the Marlins' instructional league, which typically runs until early October" (MIAMI HERALD, 9/10).

SORRY, NOT SORRY: Cowboys DE DEMARCUS LAWRENCE yesterday at a Boys and Girls Club of America event addressed a video of him outside AT&T Stadium following Sunday's game in which a fan wearing a Giants jersey "requested an autograph." Lawrence in the video said, "You need the right jersey, son." Lawrence yesterday said, "How the fans are attacking me, their situation, I mean, I could have worded it differently. I really didn't see the kid to be honest with you, but once I did, I'm like, 'Oh man, yeah, you've got to get yourself a new jersey.' Not everybody understands my sense of humor or who I am as a man. It will be all right" (DALLAS MORNING NEWS, 9/11).

NAMES: The Ravens announced that GREG DAVIS will takeover as the team's PA announcer, replacing the retired BRUCE CUNNINGHAM, who had been in the role since '99. Davis has "served as the PA announcer for Navy athletics" since '00 (BALTIMORE SUN, 9/10)....Vikings WR ADAM THIELEN and his wife, CAITLIN, through their foundation are partnering with Brooklyn Center High School to provide a "weight room renovation and a $10,000 donation for sports equipment, as well as a $1,000 scholarship for a varsity athlete on each of the school's teams" (Minneapolis STAR TRIBUNE, 9/10)....Personal training app Fitplan is partnering with a group of prominent investors including ALEX RODRIGUEZ, VC firm Corazon Capital and 24 Hour Fitness Founder & CEO MARK MASTROV (Fitplan)....HBO is "recasting the lead of its pilot" about the '80s Lakers, as actor JOHN C. REILLY has been "tapped to play" late Lakers Owner JERRY BUSS. He replaces MICHAEL SHANNON, who was "originally cast in the role but exited due to creative differences."
