Panthers, Jaguars To Celebrate 25th Anniversaries Throughout Season

Both the Panthers and Jaguars throughout this season will celebrate their respective 25th anniversaries. THE DAILY caught up with members of both organizations to see how they plan to activate within their respective marketplaces, what fans can expect and how the efforts will stand out from the NFL 100 celebration.

CAROLINA ON MY MIND: The Panthers will kick off their 25th anniversary on Saturday with a street festival in conjunction with the NFL 100 Fantennial Weekends. Fans will get a chance to speak with current players such as Luke Kuechly and Christian McCaffrey from 10:00am-1:00pm ET on Mint Street in uptown Charlotte, and the festival will include a performance from rapper Petey Pablo, a North Carolina native. Coca-Cola serves as the festival's presenting sponsor after coming on board as a team partner earlier this year. On Sunday ahead of their season opener against the Rams at Bank of America Stadium, the Panthers will give away 70,000 anniversary rally towels to fans in attendance. The team will also unveil its top play in the franchise's history as voted on by fans.

  • On the business side, the Panthers under first-year CMO Meredith Starkey launched a limited-time "Born in the 90s" campaign that offered two PSLs for $25 per month. Starkey called it an "homage to the franchise's original '95 PSL pricing." The team also partnered with Wine By Design for a team-branded bottle available at grocery chain Harris Teeter, and QSR Bojangles is also offering a Panthers-themed 25th anniversary Big Bo Box across the Carolinas.
  • On the field, players will wear an anniversary patch on their jerseys throughout the season, and PSL owners also received a 25th anniversary flag and commemorative pin ahead of this Sunday's season opener. The anniversary will culminate with the team's expansion of the Hall of Honor at halftime of its Oct. 6 home game against the Jaguars.

FIRST COAST, BEST COAST: The Jaguars kicked off their year-long celebration of their 25th season in April with the debut of a new logo that will be featured exclusively throughout the season. The new mark will appear on one-of-a-kind 25th season merchandise, the playing surface at TIAA Bank Field, stadium signage and across the Jaguars' digital network. Meanwhile, a 25th season Legends Community Gala and the Jaguars' Fantennial Fan Fest will be part of alumni weekend on Oct. 12-13. The gala will be in conjunction with the city, the Chamber of Commerce and the Jaguars.

  • A large part of the Jaguars' 25th season celebration involves honoring the Top 25 non-active players in franchise history with their All-25 series. A local media panel selected the players, and the team beginning in June rolled out the list one day at a time starting with No. 25. The team also identified an alumnus player to be recognized at each home game this season, which began in the preseason. Jaguars Senior VP/Communications Dan Edwards said the recognized players will do "everything from pregame appearances, autograph sessions, TV and radio shows, in-stadium shows during halftime and serve as honorary captain for the coin toss."
  • The Jaguars celebrated "90s Night" for their final home preseason game against the Falcons on Aug. 29, giving away a limited supply of special fan packs that included a retro 25th-season T-shirt and a 25th-season fanny pack. The team also started a new weekly podcast series that will continue beyond the 25th season celebration called "Perspectives." It is hosted by radio play-by-play voice Brian Sexton and explores the origins of the team. Additionally, the Jaguars are doing a series of videos with fans sharing their favorite memories and stories of the team's history.
