Fox-Branded RSNs Land Critical Renewal With Cox Communications

Fox Sports Regional Networks has signed a long-term carriage deal with Cox Communications, a cable operator that carries the Fox Sports-branded RSNs in 18 states. Cox feeds into more than six million U.S. homes. The renewal is an important one for the RSN group, which is in the middle of being sold to Sinclair. Federal regulators still have to approve the $10.6B sale, something that sources suggested could come as early as this month. While operating independently as its own holding group -- separate from Disney and Sinclair -- the Fox Sports RSN group has now signed long-term carriage renewals with Charter and Cox. Last month, thought, the RSNs went dark on Dish Network, and the two sides do not appear to be close to a deal.
