Baker Mayfield's Marketing Portfolio Grows With BodyArmor Deal

Browns QB Baker Mayfield has added BodyArmor to his "growing list of endorsements," joining the sports drink company's roster of "high-profile" athletes like USWNT F Megan Rapinoe, Colts QB Andrew Luck and Angels CF Mike Trout, according to Tom Withers of the AP. Mayfield said he "genuinely" likes BodyArmor's products. He added that part of the "allure of aligning with the company is because Kobe Bryant is a major investor and someone he has admired." Mayfield is in "high demand" for brands. His business portfolio already includes deals with Nike, Nissan and Panini America, and "will soon include some other major brands." Mayfield this summer "shot several commercials" in L.A. for a "national campaign expected to launch next month before the season kicks off." Mayfield said, "I'm not just going to do stuff for nickels and dimes here and there. It's gotta fit. There have been things all over, but if it's not the right fit, I'm not going to do it for any sort of paycheck" (AP, 8/8). FAST COMPANY's Jeff Beer noted Mayfield becomes BodyArmor's "second NFL star" after Luck, and he "continues the company's habit of making any athlete spokesperson into a BodyArmor stakeholder." Mayfield will "help grow awareness for the brand in Cleveland and among football fans nationwide." BodyArmor is also "sponsoring his QB RV," made famous by its appearance on HBO's "Hard Knocks" (FASTCOMPANY.com, 8/8).
