Allegiant, Raiders Officially Sign Deal For Stadium Naming Rights

Allegiant secured the stadium's naming rights after the Raiders had months of talks with various companiesALLEGIANT STADIUM

Allegiant Airlines "bought the naming rights" for the Raiders' new stadium, which had "simply been called the Las Vegas Stadium," according to Justin Emerson of the LAS VEGAS SUN. In addition to Allegiant Stadium, the Raiders and the airline are "teaming up to reward customers and fans" with promotions such as the Allegiant Connection of the Game, "linking a lucky fan to their favorite Raiders player, and an opportunity to win Fan Traveler of the Year honors" (LAS VEGAS SUN, 8/6). In Las Vegas, Alan Snel reported the "annual value of the deal" is less than $20M. Raiders Owner Mark Davis said Allegiant Chair & CEO Maury Gallagher is "somebody I'd like to work with for the next 30 years." UFC COO Lawrence Epstein said that the new stadium's schedule once it opens next year "will include at least one annual UFC event in addition to ten Raiders games and six UNLV football contests." Epstein: "When you get close to the stadium, the scale of it blows you away" (LVSPORTSBIZ.com, 8/5). Legends Global Partnerships represented the Raiders in securing the deal (THE DAILY).

CASH COW: In Las Vegas, Richard Velotta in a front-page cited sources as saying that Allegiant is "likely paying" between $20-25M in "cash and in-kind services a year to put its name on the building." Allegiant secured the rights after the Raiders had "months of talks with various companies," including resort companies that Raiders President Marc Badain "would not name." Badain said Allegiant "stepped up a while ago and expressed interest" in the stadium's naming rights (LAS VEGAS REVIEW-JOURNAL, 8/6). Badain also said that with Allegiant "continuously gaining ground on its competitors in the air space," entering into this deal will "help take Allegiant to the next level." In Las Vegas, Mick Akers notes talks for the naming-rights deal "began nine months ago" (LAS VEGAS REVIEW-JOURNAL, 8/6). YAHOO SPORTS' Frank Schwab wrote the Raiders' new stadium will be "quite a financial boon for the franchise." The Raiders will go from "one of the worst stadium situations in the NFL in Oakland, to perhaps one of the best" (SPORTS.YAHOO.com, 8/5).
