MLS Expansion Club Austin FC Reaches Deal With SeatGeek

Austin FC has reached a multiyear agreement with SeatGeek to become the MLS club’s official ticketing partner. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. SeatGeek becomes the second official partner for the expansion club scheduled to begin play in '21. The club unveiled St. David’s HealthCare as its official training and health care partner in May. Austin FC CRO Clark Beacom lauded the tech-forward populace in Austin and said that partnering with a tech-savvy partner was critical. He said that SeatGeek’s ticketing app is one of the easiest on the market to use, and that SeatGeek’s ticketing capabilities will be folded into Austin FC’s app when that comes into existence. “It was very important to us to be able to deliver” for Austin FC’s tech-savvy supporters, said Beacom, “and ultimately SeatGeek is the best partner.” The most visible aspect of the partnership for the time being is a fully immersive, 360-degree shared VR room housed in the team’s temporary headquarters. The Austin FC Experience Center will be available to the 35,000 fans who have put down deposits for tickets, starting with premium seating. They will be able to preview sight lines from different areas of the new stadium. SeatGeek has partnerships with six other MLS clubs, and a deal with Bridgeview, Ill., for the naming rights to the Fire’s current stadium. It also claims a market-leading 35% of the EPL's ticketing. This latest deal further signals the company’s effort to become synonymous with soccer ticketing. Austin is “a soccer-crazed market and soccer is a sport we’ve backed since our launch in the U.S. with our partnership with Major League Soccer,” said SeatGeek Exec VP/Client Partnerships Jeff Ianello.
