The Clippers and FS Prime Ticket have found a replacement for retiring play-by-play man Ralph Lawler in Brian Sieman, who has "been on the team’s radio call for nine seasons," according to Ryan Glasspiegel of THE BIG LEAD. Noah Eagle, the son of CBS' Ian Eagle, has "emerged as a strong candidate to replace" Sieman on KLAC-AM. Noah Eagle has "worked NBA Summer League for NBATV, and has also hosted shows on SiriusXM on the ESPNU and NBA channels" (THEBIGLEAD.com, 7/16). In L.A., Andrew Greif cites a source as saying that the rest of the FS Prime Ticket broadcast crew, "including the analyst role," has "yet to be completed" (L.A. TIMES, 7/17). In N.Y., Andrew Marchand reports the Clippers "attempted to sign" YES Network analyst Sarah Kustok to be their new TV analyst, even though she "still had one more year on her deal." YES "came back with a counter and the two sides are finishing up a multi-year deal." Sources said that the Clippers also had "talks with Richard Jefferson," but "he too likes YES and is on the rise at ESPN" (N.Y. POST, 7/17).
CAPITAL MOVES: In DC, Scott Allen cites a source as saying that NBC Sports Washington is "expected to name Fox Sports announcer Justin Kutcher as its new Wizards play-by-play man this week." Kutcher will "replace Steve Buckhantz, who called Wizards games for the past 22 years and whose return has been in doubt since the network opted not to exercise his contract option in March." Former Wizards players Drew Gooden and Caron Butler are "expected to share the TV analyst role alongside Kutcher, with Gooden calling a majority of the games." The analyst position "became available when Kara Lawson, who served as Buckhantz’s broadcast partner for the past two seasons after she replaced Phil Chenier, was hired as an assistant coach" by the Celtics last month. Gooden has "contributed to NBC Sports Washington’s pregame and postgame Wizards coverage" since '17. Longtime sideline reporter Chris Miller is "expected to return in the same role" (WASHINGTON POST, 7/17).
