Christian Yelich, More MLB Stars Bringing Fashion To The Game

Baseball players have "not historically been known for their personal style," but some younger players, like Brewers RF Christian Yelich, are "looking to change that," according to Jean Palmieri of WOMEN'S WEAR DAILY. While Yelich has a back injury that kept him out of last night's Home Run Derby, it is not "stopping him from walking the red carpet" before tonight's All-Star Game, where he will be "sporting a Dior Men navy suit." N.Y.-based designer and stylist Megan Wilson said that an MLB contact "reached out to her after a few of the players expressed interest in 'looking a little more elevated and professional' for the All-Star Game." Yelich, a California native, has been "active in charity initiatives for the California wildfire victims, so Wilson sought brands that would speak to this passion as well." Under his suit jacket, Yelich will "wear a T-shirt from Tact & Stone, a sustainable men's brand" based in L.A. Wilson said his pants will be "slightly cropped so you can see the shoe." He will wear Dior low-top sneakers that are "slightly transparent so his aqua blue Stance socks show through." Yelich will "top it off with an Indochino pocket square." Once Yelich walks the red carpet, Wilson "hopes that more professional baseball players will take note and follow in his footsteps" (WWD.com, 7/9).
