USWNT To Kick Off Victory Tour Aug. 3 At Rose Bowl Against Ireland

The USWNT and Ireland are "set for a marquee friendly" at the Rose Bowl on Aug. 3, which will be the U.S.' "first game as world champions" following their World Cup victory, according to Ger Keville of the IRISH INDEPENDENT. Rose Bowl Operating Company GM Darryl Dunn said that 50,000 fans are "expected to attend" the match that will "kickstart a national victory tour" for the USWNT (IRISH INDEPENDENT, 7/8). In DC, Steven Goff notes U.S. Soccer is also "planning to schedule two matches apiece in September, October and November," with Audi Field "expected to host a game in early November" (WASHINGTONPOST.com, 7/8). In N.Y., Andrew Das noted the first-place finish in the World Cup "triggers a four-game victory tour" in the USWNT's CBA with U.S. Soccer, with "each player guaranteed just over $60,000 to take part."
