WFAN’s Mike Francesa and ESPN Radio 98.7 N.Y.'s Michael Kay for the second consecutive month "finished first and second overall in the ratings," but who finished on top "comes down to one of the important questions of our time: How to count Francesa’s stream," according to Andrew Marchand of the N.Y. POST. Using the "traditional standard of what stations sell radio advertising against, Kay beat Francesa by a 6.9-6.7 share" in the last month. But if adding in Francesa’s .5 stream, he then "shoots ahead 7.2-6.9." Overall, over the last two months, what "can’t be disputed is that Francesa is in front" on average. Without his stream, Francesa is up, 6.8-6.5. With the stream, his "lead is 7.3 to 6.5." For May, all of WFAN’s programs were "at the top of their time periods" (N.Y. POST, 6/11). On Long Island, Neil Best notes ESPN Radio has "declined to break down how much of its rating comes from streaming, so an apples-to-apples comparison with WFAN is not possible" (NEWSDAY, 6/11).
