Overnight Ratings: Belmont Up From Last Non-Triple Crown Race

Having a horse with the potential to win the Triple Crown makes all the difference in the world for ratings for the Belmont Stakes. The race portion of Saturday’s event drew a 3.6 overnight on NBC on Saturday from 6:15-7:00pm ET. Last year, Justify pulled off the Triple Crown at Belmont, and that race drew an 8.1 overnight. Two years ago, when there was no Triple Crown on the line and NBC drew a 3.4 overnight.

FOUR SEASONS: ABC drew a 9.8 overnight on Friday for Warriors-Raptors Game 4, marking the lowest figure for a Game 4 since the series-clinching Spurs-Cavaliers matchup pulled a 7.8 on a Thursday in '07. Warriors-Raptors also down 13% from an 11.2 for Warriors-Cavs last year and down 22% from a 12.6 two years ago.

THE NORTH REMEMBERS: CBS yesterday drew a 2.0 overnight for Rory McIlroy's seven-stroke win at the PGA Tour RBC Canadian Open. The tournament moved to its new mid-June slot this year after years of being held the week after the Open Championship in August. The 2.0 rating is the best for the tourney since 2015. Last year, Dustin Johnson won by three strokes.
