Luke Walton On The Job With Kings Despite Assault Investigation

An accusation against Walton was made public just one week after he became coach of the KingsNBAE/GETTY IMAGES

New NBA Kings coach Luke Walton is "on the job," despite the "allegation of sexual assault" levied against him by former Spectrum SportsNet LA reporter Kelli Tennant, according to Marcos Breton of the SACRAMENTO BEE. Kings VP/Basketball Operations & GM Vlade Divac said the team is "taking the investigation seriously." Tennant's accusation was "made public just one week after Walton was introduced." Sources said that Divac was "blindsided by the allegations," as the team did a "background check on Walton that gave no indication of the looming public relations catastrophe that quickly followed his hiring." Divac said that he is "confident" Walton will be the Kings' coach at the "start of the next NBA season." Breton wrote Divac now "must let the Walton investigation play out while remaining silent about it" (SACRAMENTO BEE, 6/5).
